22-year-old Jacob Fuerte was struck by a vehicle Monday morning in the northbound lanes of the freeway at Campo de Cahuenga.

Studio City, CA – 22-year-old Jacob Fuerte, a recruit of the Los Angeles Fire Department, died after he was struck by a suspected hit-and-run driver Monday morning in Studio City, the fire department said.

Fuerte may have been involved in a traffic collision and then exited his car when he was hit by another vehicle.

The accident happened around 5:10 a.m. on the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway at Campo de Cahuenga.

LAFD said Fuerte was on his way to training when he “may have been involved in a traffic collision.” The recruit exited his vehicle, possibly to assess the situation and render aid to anyone in need, when he was struck by another car. That vehicle allegedly fled the scene.

Fuerte sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no description of the suspected driver or vehicle.

The Northbound 101 Freeway was shut down during the investigation.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision as a hit-and-run.

Studio City, CA – A man died in a two-vehicle collision that happened Monday morning on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Studio City.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck occurred around 5:11 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the freeway at Campo de Cahuenga.

Authorities said a car collided with a truck towing portable restrooms.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound lanes were shut down following the collision.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
