Long Beach, Calif. – A motorcycle rider was fatally hit by a train on Long Beach Boulevard in Long Beach Wednesday evening.

The Long Beach Police Department responded to the deadly traffic collision at around 6 p.m. on Long Beach Boulevard and 8th Street.

A Metro A (Blue) Line train was crossing the intersection when it struck a motorcycle for reasons not yet established.

Despite life-saving measures to the rider, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

More details about the collision was not available.

An investigation is ongoing.
